The Design Process Part 2

Lateral Thinking and Six Thinking Hats by Edward De bono

Vertical thinking is selective. Rightness is what matters in vertical thinking. It selects a pathway excluding other pathways.

a problem is the difference between what has and what one wants.

White hat: Facts
Black hat: Negative judgement
Red hat: emotions
Yellow: Positive thinking e.g solutions
Green: Creativity and alternatives
Blue hat: Process control, thinking about thinking

Grey hat: is when you question yourself. It is an intravert.

Process
Have written work, because to legal issues.

Statement of work
Specific tasks
Things you're going to do, won't do, can't do, the things the company need to do before you can do your job.

They need to provide text

Brief
Official contract: Terms ...official document, witnessed.
Conditions must be noted e.g. changes and alterations esp. just before you print.
Ownership is important when it comes to visual arts.

ask for a downpayment to make sure the client is dedicated to the project, cause they can change their mind at any minute.

Delivery is also important to note.

PROJECT: Document the process on the final process.
Mind map, define six hats.
Visual direction via mind maps.
